Capitol pictures.
Cool things to know about the Capitol:
-288 feet tall. (Exact same height as LDS Temple in DC).
-Tallest point in Washington, except Washington Monument. (Federal regulation that no buildings in DC can block the view of the Capitol).
-Burned by the British. (But not completely, because a thunderstorm put the flames out).
-Has a tomb for George Washington's body. (He was buried at Mount Vernon instead).
-Red light at top of the dome turns on when Congress is in session.
-Masons, including George Washington, laid the cornerstone. Masons, including Millard Fillmore, laid the cornerstone to the new wings.
-Subways connect the Capitol to the House and Senate office buildings.
-The geographic center of Washington. Every street/address in town is measured from a compass stone in the center of the Capitol.
